Tis the Season to Give!

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. (Winston Churchill)

This month, to inspire you to get into the holiday spirit,  The Art of Accounting would like to highlight two community organizations that are near and dear to our hearts.

Dedicated to educating and empowering young athletes and students to compassionately give back to our community since 2005, The Gift of Giving Back has donated more that 1.4 million lbs of food to less fortunate families. That’s the equivalent of $3.5 million bucks!

An annual autumn food drive that was initiated by the Burlington Eagles Hockey Association (boys hockey) and supported by the Burlington Barracudas (girls hockey) has now spread to Oakville, Brampton and Hamilton. Backed by many dedicated sponsors, The Gift of Giving Back provides invaluable resources to several community organizations.  One of those beneficiaries being Burlington Food Bank.

Supporting Burlington since 1991, Burlington Food Bank (Partnership West) provided food to over 7,500 residents in 2015. They also support other food banks in the area. While most of their donations are non-perishable food items, monetary donations are always accepted to help offset fresh food purchases and operational costs. Consider making a donation today to this well respected and highly effective charitable organization.

At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back. (Denzel Washington)

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

The joy of giving has a ripple effect that makes its’ way across oceans and back to our shore. Don’t forget that there’s also the benefit of receiving a tax receipt from a registered charitable organization such as Burlington Food Bank (Partnership West) when you make cash donations. Learn more about CRA regulations where charities are concerned.

Give yourself the gift of giving this Christmas. However you decide to spend your holidays, we at The Art of Accounting wish you joy!
